{Outdoor Life} Coyote 1 mile

{Outdoor Life} Coyote 1 mile

The two youngest have been in cross country for a few months. They have improved their times quite a bit! To test their one mile, their club hosts a 1-mile run. J finished in 8:40 (3rd in her age group) and S finished in 8:43 (2nd in her age group). Next up: Cookie Chase 5K for the girls.

{outdoor life} Slacker Half Marathon

{outdoor life} Slacker Half Marathon

The Slacker Half Marathon was June 25th. It starts at Loveland Ski Area (10,837 feet), and ends in Georgetown (8,504 feet). I still didn’t feel like I had enough training time between the Mickelson and this race. My training was going incredibly well in mid-may (I had one of my best every tempo runs), then I got sick for a week with a respiratory infection. I was able to train a bit before food poisoning/stomach flu, missed the Revel, but…

{outdoor life} Mickelson Trail half

{outdoor life} Mickelson Trail half

I had originally planned to run the Revel Rockies half marathon on June 4th (two of my daughters were doing the half marathon, and my husband was running the full marathon), but the day of the expo, I started feeling bad. By 5 p.m. I was vomiting and had diarrhea, and it lasted through the night. By 5 a.m., I knew I would have to DNS the race. I was so disappointed. The plan was to run the Mickelson Trail…

{Outdoor Life} Santa Stampede 5k (race #51)

{Outdoor Life} Santa Stampede 5k (race #51)

Two of my girls are spending the week with their dad. Hubby is working 10 hours today, and two of my girls had choir practice from 8-11 am. I decided to run a 5k to kill time between dropping off and picking up my girls from church. It was below 30 degrees this morning, about 33 at the start, and 35 at the finish. It was a pretty run! My 13th 5k and my 51st Race. I did pretty well,…

{Running} My girls’ first race

{Running} My girls’ first race

I’m cleaning and organizing our library/school room and for some reason this picture just tugged at my heart. This was in July of 2014. The three oldest ran the longest route (almost 3 miles) the 4th ran the middle route (1.5 miles) and the youngest ran the .75 mile route. They don’t all love running now: the oldest hates it and doesn’t really like exercise at all (she has so much of her Nana in her), the next two like…

{races} Cookie Chase 5k Race #49

The night before started rough: hubby had food poison and threw up all night. He tried to get up and get ready (I thought he was crazy) but by the time he was dressed he realized he couldn’t possibly run a race. He went back to bed, we headed out for the race. Two of my older teens volunteered for the race, and the two youngest had trained for the run. For training, hubby would run with them for a…

{Races} Mickelson Trail Half Marathon Race #48

What a great race! It felt amazing to finally be with a group of people unafraid and untainted by government and media. Though there were about a dozen mask wearers, the other 1,970ish were displaying their imago dei and it was glorious. It was our first time on this run. We had walked about 2.5 miles of the trail last year with the girls to see one of the train tunnels. I was hooked! I knew I wanted to run…

{Races} Memorial Day 10K Race #47

This was our first year running this race. We’ve run the Bolder Boulder on Memorial weekend a few times, but we decided to find races that better fit the mission of helping veterans. You can find this one at: MEMORIAL DAY RUN & MARCH | To help feed homeless Veterans (memorialdaymarch.com) It was a very sunny morning and HOT! I felt for the men and women in uniform, it was toasty and humid. It was also rather hilly. It was…

{Races} Barr Lake 15K Race #46

It was hot and muddy, but we got it done. Race Number 46 (for me) complete! The rain was so loud last night, we woke up at 3 a.m. to see the pouring rain filling up the street. The forecast had called for just a smattering of rain, but this was a downpour! The entire race is groomed trail, so I had imagined it more like a mud run. As soon as we arrived to pick up our shirts and…
