{Outdoor Life} 2022 challenge

{Outdoor Life} Santa Stampede 5k (race #51)

Two of my girls are spending the week with their dad. Hubby is working 10 hours today, and two of my girls had choir practice from 8-11 am. I decided to run a 5k to kill time between dropping off and picking up my girls from church. It was below 30 degrees this morning, about 33 at the start, and 35 at the finish. It was a pretty run! My 13th 5k and my 51st Race. I did pretty well,…

My 50th Year

My 50th Year

Fifty was a great year, even with the craziness of government control and mass psychosis. We went on several road trips! We often fly when we vacation, but with the mandates, we really wanted nothing to do with it. Instead, we went to Ohio and visited Cedar Point (a bucket list item for my hubby) where the kids and hubby rode a bunch of roller coasters (my vertigo had just finally resolved completely and I wasn’t taking the chance of…

{Outdoor Life} Mt. Elbert 14,440 feet

Climbing a 14er is a little like giving birth for me. In the “worst” of it, I say I will NEVER climb one again. Within a day or two, I’m ready to try a new challenge and am looking for possibilities. This was our third 14er: we have summited Mt. Bierstadt (14,065′) and Mt. Democrat (14,148′) as well. We had planned to add Lincoln to the Democrat day, but by the time we got to the trailhead it was already…

{Running} 50 by 50

Hubby and I were born just under two months apart (though, according to our moms, our due dates were the same day–he was early, and I was really really late). We will both be 50 years old this year and, in honor of that, we are working on some goals. I started running at 40ish; I was going through a divorce and started, stopped, and restarted the Couch to 5K app program to save my sanity. I wasn’t very serious…

(Running) 2020 in Review

(Running) 2020 in Review

The Dopey Challenge–4 races, 4 days, 48.6 miles–was an amazing way to start 2020! We had been training most of 2019 to prepare for the race, including completing several half marathons, some shorter races, and hundreds of miles of training. Our last 80-100 miles of training was in November and December in Colorado, so we experienced some rather cold weather. This would prove to be a challenge to us, as we found ourselves racing in HOT weather (above average for…
