{Outdoor Life} Garden of the Gods

{Outdoor Life} Garden of the Gods

The weather and “indoor life” are finally getting to us. We had a pretty good blizzard, then some snow (March is our snowiest month anyway) and it’s finally starting to warm up. We decided we needed a big outdoor day so we walked around the Garden of the Gods and did some “bouldering.” We experienced some giant flakes for the first 10 minutes, some clouds, and some sunshine and the weather was about 50 degrees when we finished. After, we…

{Transition to Grey} 4 months

{Transition to Grey} 4 months

Time flies! It’s hard to believe it has already been 4 months since I stopped dyeing my hair. My girls have been great: they keep telling me how “cool” my hair looks. I have my moments about it–I would never decide to go back to the hair dye–but I doubt how good it will look when I’m done. I wish I had started this journey earlier last year, so that I could be done with the growth by my 50th…

{History Nibbles} President Truman

{History Nibbles} President Truman

We are visiting Missouri and Kansas next month as part of our Civil War study. I have found visiting historical sites really solidifies our studies, and we are so looking forward to our visit. We will be visiting Independence, MO. President Harry Truman grew up on his parent’s farm in Independence, MO and he is said to have worked at a little soda shop called Clinton’s Soda Shop when he was young. We plan on visiting some of the landmarks,…

{Outdoor Life} Race #44

{Outdoor Life} Race #44

Today was race number 44 for me since October 2013. It was supposed to be a 7K, but it measured at 4.24 miles. I really don’t understand how they couldn’t move the finish line ONE-TENTH of a mile (they did warn it was a 7K-ISH) so that it could fit in with my previous 5 races of 7K distance (including this very race we ran last year when this one was forced to be virtual). This is my second race…

{Outdoor Life} Snowfall

{Outdoor Life} Snowfall

It made for a really great sledding day today! The sled run by our house was pretty icy after the sunshine yesterday and overnight freeze, and made for some really fast sledding. Make sure you get outside today!

{Outdoor Life} snow storm

{Outdoor Life} snow storm

We thought we might get to run this morning, but there was already 7ish inches on the ground, so we shoveled instead. We are currently at about 13” of snow and it’s still falling. My oldest is at work, I am not sure how she will get home. Blessed Sunday! Stay warm.

{Outdoor Life} Spring Running

{Outdoor Life} Spring Running

In Colorado, we get most of our snow in March and April, especially on the front range. The weather people are predicting 12-24” by Sunday night, though the original predictions aren’t panning out. We were supposed to run a St Paddy’s Day race Sunday morning, but it was already postponed to next weekend because of the forecast. Since we aren’t running tomorrow in the race, we made sure we got out this morning. Running in spring snow is one of…
