Breakfast was at 6:30 am. We ate at the Windjammer buffet, then got some coffee and soda on the Promenade.
We sat in the Royal Theater until we were cleared to depart at 8:00 am. Customs was actually rather easy (though I still abhor the stupid facial recognition we have all been pulled into), and we were off the ship.
We called the shuttle company and they were fast!! It’s a small business, called Avanti, and they work hard. It’s only $12 each, super cheap for Ft Lauderdale, and they are amazing. We always tipped well because we want to support small businesses.
We arrived at the airport 8 hours before our flight.
Yup, 8 hours.
I am so thankful, though, that we could curb-check our luggage and hang out on the other side of security. I was so grateful, we tipped the agent $20.
Otherwise, we wouldn’t be able to check in for 6 HOURS. There’s nothing pre-security at the FLL airport, barely even chairs!
Instead, we could go through security and hang out where there are restaurants and chairs with plugs for our phones and tablet.
We sat in a food location for a few hours. I updated my blog, Shane watched some sports and played games. The time went faster than expected.
We had lunch at a sports bar (that wasn’t playing the Chargers game, so we watched it on our tablet).
Somehow we managed to kill the entire 8 hours and board the plane.
Our first flight was an hour to Tampa. We arrived early, then had to sit waiting for a gate. By the time we got in the terminal, we had only 20 minutes to go to the bathroom and get food. By this time, it was 8 pm eastern, and we ate lunch at 1 pm, breakfast at 6:30 am.
We barely got burgers and fries and hurried to board in our group.
The plane wasn’t full and we had a row to ourselves. We ate our burgers, we watched some downloaded shows on the tablet, and had a good flight.
We finally got home about 11:00.
The end of our tenth anniversary celebration.
It was good!
Xoxo
