Navy was getting killed by Notre Dame, so we left the sports bar in the beginning of the fourth quarter.
After buying a belt (I forgot) and jeans (Shane forgot) we decided to try out the water taxi.
We said goodbye to G at the dock (who we hadn’t seen in almost 10 years!!) and got on the taxi.
The taxi was cool, but a bit awkward. Waiting for the taxi took longer than expected, but it wasn’t a bad way to get around.
We decided to eat first. By the time we ate, it would be 4:45ish, and we’d only eaten lunch at about noon.
We had a dockside table at 15th Street Fisheries.
The seafood was just so-so. Most of it was over-cooked and rubbery, and there was only one variety plate.
There was more artichoke than seafood for $27 a plate. We usually try mom and pop places, but we were unfamiliar with the area.
We did find a great gelato place! We took the water taxi to the nearest point to our hotel, and walked up Las Olas Blvd in the “cool people district.” We could hear the crowds all last night from our balcony, and we wanted to see what the draw was.
The gelato was fresh and creamy, and rather authentic.
There are many restaurants and bars along the street and some cute shops. Most of the shops are artwork, and I wish I had taken more photos of one shop with giant sculptures. It’s a cute little area.
Like proper old people, we retired to our room at 7. The sun went down, we got to see the nightlife before it got crazy, and we can watch the drunks from our balcony.
The pool is open at 7am, so we’re gonna have a swim before we get ready to board the boat.
I will be grateful to unpack for 7 nights! We have a balcony/veranda on deck 8, so I’m really looking forward to just sitting on the veranda and listen to the sea!
Blessings to all!
